9/11, Remembering

911

General Vice President Sito Pantoja today issued the following statement to mark the anniversary of 9/11:

“Brothers and Sisters, today marks the fifteenth anniversary of the horrific terror attacks on the United States. Thousands of innocent people were killed and hundreds of others were injured in these senseless attacks.  As we remember and pay homage to these fallen heroes, lest we forget the IAM family lost three members on that fateful day.  United Airlines Customer Service employees Marianne McFarland and Jesus Sanchez were onboard United 175 and IAM Organizer and New York City Firefighter Keith Maynard perished in the World Trade Center collapse.

The IAM continues to mourn those fallen victims in New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania, as well as all victims of terrorism around the world.  The IAM continues to support and honor the first-responders who helped in the recovery and rebuilding of our great country.

These cowardly attacks have forever changed our country, and our union, but the IAM will never forget or stop fighting for stricter and safer flying restrictions.  I salute all of our Fighting Machinists for the many jobs they perform in keeping us safe each and every day.

We Will Never Forget!!”
