Association Continues American Negotiations This Week

Sisters and Brothers,

Your TWU-IAM Association Fleet Service and Mechanic & Related Negotiating Committees met with American Airlines this week in Miami, Florida to continue joint contract negotiations.  Below is each Committee’s update of this week’s discussions.  Each Committee was able to reach preliminary, tentative agreements pertaining some of the articles discussed this week.

Fleet Service Negotiations Update:

Your TWU-IAM Association Fleet Service Negotiating Committee met with American Airlines this week in Miami, Florida to continue joint contract negotiations.  It was a productive week and progress was made.  The Union and the Company discussed the following articles:

Preamble

Purpose of the Agreement

Safety and Health

Grievances

System Board of Adjustment

Fitness for Duty

Probationary Period

We will continue joint contract negotiations in Washington D.C. for the next two weeks, beginning on January 19, 2016.  We have also scheduled a combined nine additional full weeks of joint contract negotiations through March.

Your Committee is determined to secure the industry-leading joint contract that every Fleet Service Employee at American Airlines deserves.  Your support and solidarity gives us the power to achieve our goals.

Mechanic and Related/Stores Negotiations Update:

Sisters and Brothers,

The Mechanic & Related and Stores Negotiating Committee met with the Company this week in Miami, Florida and continued joint contract negotiations.  It was a productive week.

During this session your committee discussed the following articles with the company:

Purpose of the Agreement

Safety and Health

Fitness for Duty

Grievance Procedure

System Board of Adjustment

The Committee also received a complete proposal from the company on Grievance Procedure and System Board of Adjustment which we are reviewing.

Furthermore, your Committee issued a comprehensive proposal to the Company regarding Fitness for Duty for their review.

We are tentatively scheduled to continue joint contract negotiations in Washington D.C. the weeks of January 18th and January 25th.  In addition, we have secured the following weeks to continue negotiations:  February 8th, February 29th, March 7th, March 21st, and March 28th .

Please keep in mind that combining two labor agreements into one is a complex task and all articles of incorporation are important.  Updates to the membership will continue after each weekly session.

In closing, your continued solidarity and support will be appreciated and necessary as we move forward into the more difficult areas of negotiations of the JCBA.
