Scheduling Issues
submitted by Sara Gonzales

schedulingYour District Lodge representatives along with the Hotel Committee Chairperson met with the Company regarding the scheduling issues that have been taking place over the last two weeks.

The biggest issues we have received were in regard to illegal duty days, mostly due to waiting for hotels to be booked in cancellation situations.  We have met with the Company and the Hotel Committee to identify the issues that caused the violations. The hotel issues have been found to be due to a breakdown with the processes regarding cancellations but since speaking with the Company, they have streamlined their processes, which should alleviate the wait times for hotels.  We plan to remain engaged in ensuring the Company continues to make whatever changes necessary to honor our contractual rights.

While we have been extremely unhappy with the amount of violations in the past weeks, we are pleased that the Company has been extremely cooperative in remedying these violations through the grievance process in a timely manner.

Also, if you’ve had a rolled day and would like your day restored in lieu of additional pay, please remember you must request your day off on XJT.com within 24 hours of completing the pairing in which your day was rolled.

If you have any questions please contact your grievance representative.

Negotiations Update
contract_negotiationsYour IAM joint contract negotiations committee met from Monday, June 27, 2016 and continued through Thursday, June 30, 2016 in Denver, Colorado.

Your committee exchanged proposals with the Company on the following Sections:

Section 5 Travel Expenses – After several exchanges and many discussions at the table we are very close to finalizing the outstanding issue related to per diem in an effort to reach a tentative agreement.

Section 11 Leaves of Absences – This section of the contract contains very important language and is effected by other sections of the contract, which makes negotiation very complex. It is also one of the largest sections of the contract.

In addition, your committee spent substantial time researching bidding systems and their potential affect on quality of life for our members.

Due to scheduling conflicts the mediator has cancelled our July session. However, we have discussed dates for August and September with the mediator and the Company. Once dates are finalized, they will be communicated to the membership.

Negotiations updates can be accessed at: www.iamDL142.org or on the IAM ExpressJet App which can be downloaded by searching IAMAW on your App or Google Play store.

Reassignment Issues
submitted by Sara Gonzales

ERJ flight attendants have also been reaching out to the grievance reps across the board in regards to notification of reassignment.  A flight attendant is not phone liable during a pairing, per the CBA you are required to provide a phone number to scheduling to be contactable during periods of phone liability.  The CBA does not require you to have a cell phone on your person and charged at all times.

If you have any questions please contact your grievance representative.

ERJ DFW Boarding Times
submitted by Sara Gonzales & Melissa Brennan

BoardingPlease be aware, per your CBA, you are only required to be at the aircraft 30 minutes prior to departure and in the past that has given you 5 minutes to complete your preflight safety and security checks.  We realize this is not the policy of American Airlines, but our CBA is legally binding and supersedes any Company policy.  You will not be disciplined for showing up 30 minutes prior to the aircraft.  In addition, we recommend constructive, professional communication with the gate agents regarding the boarding process, but if a gate agent does begin the boarding process prior to completing your safety and security checks being complete, please file an ASAP report as our preflight checks are FAA mandated.
