Negotiations Update
contract_negotiationsYour IAM joint contract negotiations committee met from Monday, August 22, 2016 and continued through Thursday, August 25, 2016 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Your committee exchanged proposals with the Company on the following Sections:
Section 5 Travel Expenses – Your committee is happy to report that after several exchanges and discussions on this Section, we have reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) that will provide improvements for Flight Attendants.
Section 22 Union Activities – Your committee is pleased; that after many proposals and counter proposals on this Section, we have reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) that will provide the Union the ability to properly represent our members.
Section 26 Benefits – We opened negotiations on this Section by focusing on the insurance portion.  Both the Company and the Union have exchanged proposals and we have narrowed down the outstanding insurance issues and plan to continue working toward resolving these issues during the next session.

The mediator has scheduled the next negotiations session for September 19th – 23rd in St. Louis, Missouri.

CRJ

 Ready Reserve Release
faRecently there have been a few instances when a Flight Attendant sat Ready Reserve and upon completion of their eight (8) hours, called scheduling only to be assigned a trip. Realizing this was a contractual violation, the Flight Attendants immediately contacted their Union representatives and the violation was corrected.  This issue was addressed with Scheduling and Inflight Management.  Both have agreed the CRJ contract is clear, and upon completion of the eight (8) hour Ready Reserve period, when the Flight Attendant contacts scheduling, they shall be released until the next assignment or reserve period.

Section 8.D.2
The duty period for a Flight Attendant on Ready Reserve will not exceed eight (8) hours, unless she/he receives an assignment. If a Ready Reserve is not given an assignment prior to the end of the eight (8) hour ready reserve period, the Ready Reserve Flight Attendant shall be released until her/his next assignment or reserve period. If a Flight Attendant returns from an assignment she/he may be required to complete her/his original ready reserve period.

Overall Attendance Meetings
submitted by Melissa Brennan

attendanceThere have been many informational meetings scheduled to go over the overall attendance for each Flight Attendant. Although these meetings are strictly informational, you still may have your Union Rep present.  We always encourage that you notify us, and request we be available to join you.  If you have any questions/concerns, or if you have a meeting other than the informational meeting, please contact your grievance representatives.

Light Duty Payout in IAH
submitted by Melissa Brennan

moneyLight duty has been a daunting process for the past several years, and although we currently have an outstanding grievance regarding this implementation, we still battle the inconsistencies daily.  Currently, we have a flight attendant on light duty who was paid incorrectly.  After relentless questioning and investigating, the IAM Grievance Reps in IAH were able to recoup a four-figure payout for our member. This is a prime example of who we are as a Union–solidarity is victory!  If you feel you have been shorted or paid incorrectly in any way, please reach out to your grievance representatives with your respective pay stubs, Crew Pay records, and SkedPlus documentation.  We would be happy to sit down with you in order to review any situation.

United CPA Extensions
submitted by Melissa Brennan

united-expressjetIt is with great excitement to see United Airlines renew some of our CPAs through 2018, and potentially 2019.  This is the epitome of quality work, performed by quality employees, working under some of the best, if not the best, collective bargaining agreements in the industry–proving to our mainline partners that we deliver the highest, and most productive, customer service around.  This achievement is hopefully just one of many to come over the next few months.  Due to your loyal efforts, we as one, are moving forward as a solid competitor once again.  Thank YOU for all that you do everyday for each other and for our passengers.

New Changes to the IAM App
submitted by Melissa Brennan

iconOver the past few weeks, we have had a record number of downloads on our IAM XJT Flight Attendant Mobile App (search & download IAMAW in your App Store if you haven’t already)! Thank YOU!  In conversation with those who are utilizing this tool during their trips, it has been suggested that we add a tab where you can submit local upcoming events throughout our layover cities.  While this is in the works, please keep your eyes and ears out for any fun or helpful events while you are flying.  If you come across something that catches your attention, please email that information to us at so we can start the list for your use. Examples of useful events could be anything from “Food Truck Festivals” to “Farmers Markets,” “Local Sporting Events,” and much more!  The events that will be published will be based on your feedback, so it will require an active membership.  We hope you can make the most out of your layover, while you are away from home.
