After 18 months of negotiations and one rejected tentative agreement, the IAM filed a request for mediation with the National Mediation Board (NMB). Today we were notified that the NMB has assigned Mediator Victoria Gray to the OpenSkies case. We are hopeful this will be a positive step in reaching a tentative agreement that the membership deserves! We also hope this will let the company know we are serious in our demand for an agreement that meets our member’s needs. At the last bargaining session with the company, we had 3 days scheduled for talks. The company came in on the first day with suitcases in hand. They dropped a few crumbs on the table and said that was all they had to offer and left. Going forward, the federal mediator will be telling the parties when the talks will begin and how long they will continue. As dates are given by the mediator, we will advise the membership of those dates. We will be following up with another bulletin explaining the process with the NMB involved.
