IAM Welcomes Southwest SOS Employees into the Union

On Friday, May 1st, the National Mediation Board (NMB) issued their ruling on the Union’s filing to accrete the Southwest Source of Support (SOS) group.  The Union made the initial filing with the NMB after a majority of the SOS employees signed authorization cards seeking union representation.  The NMB found that those employees who signed the authorization cards were the majority of the work group and has ruled that the work group be accreted to the current Customer Service and Customer Sales and Support Agent’s agreement.

The SOS work group provides support to our members who may have an issue with a reservation when dealing with a customer and provides customer service to various specialized groups.   There are approximately 100 SOS representatives; all based in Dallas TX, SWA Headquarters.  District 142 will begin establishing a grievance procedure for the group and work on collecting proposals for negotiating an agreement for these new members.

On behalf of District 142 and the entire IAM family, I would like to welcome the SOS group to our union family.

Fraternally,

David Supplee
