IAM / BRITISH AIRWAYS CUSTOMER SERVICE UPDATED TA INFORMATION

Further to the last bulletin that shared updates, clarifications and/or corrections to the Tentative Agreement, this bulletin is intended to continue providing that same type of information before you vote. Here is a summary of the latest items that are different from the original release:

  • There is an additional clarification concerning the current CS Tentative Agreement. There are many instances where there are references to “date of ratification” that were carried over from multiple previous CBAs (2014 and earlier). In each instance where you read one of these passages, it is a historical reference to that date in 2014 and will be changed to say that specific date. It is not reflective of a change in this Tentative Agreement as the intent was to change those references to the actual date(s) in 2014. Remember that all changes with a reference to the current date of ratification will be reflected as a red line (or blue line) change in the current TA document.
  • There have been a number of questions concerning details specific to the Voluntary Severance Program in which members are looking for more detailed information than what is contained in the TA document. There is now a more comprehensive document titled “2019 Voluntary Severance Program USA Customer Service” that can be found on the District Lodge 142 website along with this bulletin. This information should help everyone with the additional information that we have been asked for over the past few days. The most important thing for everyone to know is that if you are planning to take advantage of the Voluntary Severance Program, regardless of the date you want to leave, you need to participate in the upcoming election window occurring this year. There is also a Q&A that consists of questions from the road show meetings.
  • Another question that has been asked is “If the TA is voted down, will it delay the start of the Voluntary Severance Program?”. The answer is simply yes, the Voluntary Severance Program will only continue forward if the TA is ratified.

The electronic copy available at https://www.iamdl142.org/british-airways/ will be updated to reflect all of these changes. We apologize for any confusion caused with these issues. The most up to date and correct version will always be available on the District Lodge 142 website at www.iamdl142.org. Please take the time to read the entire document before you formulate any opinions or questions. This will help you make an educated decision and not an emotional decision when you vote. If you have any questions, please give me a call at (859) 653-4037 or email me at or contact one of your negotiating committee members. With best wishes we remain

Sincerely and fraternally,

James M. Samuel
